Restylane®
The Restylane family of fillers adds volume and fullness to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the smile lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth. Several Restylane products can also enhance the lips, with natural-looking results.
How Restylane works
Restylane is a clear gel made of hyaluronic acid, formulated to act like the hyaluronic acid your body already produces. Injected beneath a wrinkle or into an area that has lost fullness, it adds volume right away to smooth lines and restore shape.
Over time, the gel is gradually and naturally broken down by the body. Many Restylane products include lidocaine (the "-L" in Restylane-L) for added comfort during treatment.

Restylane® Silk
Made with smaller, smoother particles for delicate areas. Designed for natural-looking lip enhancement and to soften the fine vertical lines above the upper lip.
Restylane® Lyft
Formerly known as Perlane-L. A firmer gel that adds lift and fullness to the cheeks and midface, and corrects deeper smile lines.
Restylane® Refyne
A flexible gel made with XpresHAn Technology™ for moderate smile lines and marionette lines. It's designed to move with your face, so results look natural when you smile, frown or pucker.
Restylane® Defyne
Also made with XpresHAn Technology™, for deeper smile lines and marionette lines. Its flexible gel supports natural movement while correcting more pronounced folds.
What to expect
- Free consultationWe discuss your goals, review your medical history, and choose the Restylane product, or products, best suited to each area.
- TreatmentThe gel is injected with a fine needle or cannula, usually in 15–45 minutes. Products with lidocaine help keep you comfortable.
- Right afterResults are visible immediately. Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising at the injection sites is common, usually lasting several days; lips may swell a little more at first.
- Lasting resultsDepending on the product and area, results typically last from about 6 months to a year or more. Touch-ups help maintain your look.
Before your treatment
- Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory medicines, fish oil and vitamin E for about a week, unless your doctor has told you to take them
- Avoid alcohol for a day or two beforehand
- Tell us if you get cold sores, especially before lip treatment
- Let us know about allergies, previous fillers or any medical conditions
Aftercare
- Avoid strenuous exercise, extreme heat or cold, and alcohol for 24 hours
- Cold compresses help with swelling
- Don't massage the area unless we've told you to
- Call us right away about unusual pain, skin color changes, or any vision changes

Will my lips look natural?
Yes. Our approach is subtle enhancement, adding shape, definition and hydration that suits your face, not an overfilled look. Restylane Silk is especially designed for soft, natural-looking lips.
How many treatments will I need?
Many patients see the results they want after a single treatment, sometimes with a small touch-up a few weeks later.
What are the possible side effects?
Most side effects are mild to moderate and temporary, such as swelling, redness, pain, bruising, tenderness and itching at the injection sites. Rare but serious complications, including accidental injection into a blood vessel, can occur with any filler, which is why it's important to choose an experienced medical provider. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved if needed.
How is Restylane different from Juvéderm?
Both are trusted families of hyaluronic acid fillers with products for lines, lips and cheeks. They differ in gel texture and how they're made. We choose based on the area, your anatomy and the result you want. See also Juvéderm.
