PRP Skin Regeneration Therapy

Often called the "Vampire Lift," PRP skin regeneration is a type of regenerative medicine that uses your own blood. The platelets in your blood are concentrated and returned to your skin, where they help rejuvenate it naturally for a brighter, firmer, healthier-looking complexion.

How PRP works

PRP skin regeneration is based on your body's natural ability to heal wounds. Your platelets contain substances called growth factors that activate and rejuvenate cells.

When these growth factors are released into the skin, they stimulate the production of new collagen and the formation of new tiny blood vessels (capillaries), the building blocks of fresh, youthful-looking skin.

Why the right equipment matters

PRP is only effective when the blood is properly processed. We use a medical-grade centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets from the rest of the blood.

Injecting plain, unconcentrated plasma provides little to no benefit. That's why it's so important to choose a medical practice with the right equipment and experience.

From blood to glow

The PRP process

1

Draw

A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm, similar to a routine blood test.

2

Spin

The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma.

3

Rejuvenate

The PRP is injected into, or micro-needled into, the treatment areas to release its growth factors where they're needed.

What PRP can improve

  • Dull, tired-looking skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Crepey skin and dark circles under the eyes
  • Skin texture and tone
  • Acne scars
  • Loss of firmness and elasticity

Common areas include the face, under-eyes, neck and décolleté.

What to expect

  • A free consultation to make sure PRP is right for you
  • Numbing cream is applied for comfort
  • The full visit takes about an hour
  • Mild redness, swelling or small bruises may last 1–3 days
  • Glow and texture improve over the following weeks as new collagen forms
  • A series of about 3 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, usually gives the best results

Before your treatment

  • Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of treatment
  • Eat a normal meal beforehand
  • Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory medicines for about a week, unless your doctor has told you to take them; they can reduce platelet activity
  • Avoid alcohol for 1–2 days beforehand

Aftercare

  • Don't wash your face or apply makeup for several hours
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medicines for a few days; Tylenol is fine
  • Skip strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24–48 hours
  • Use a gentle cleanser and daily broad-spectrum sunscreen

Frequently asked questions

Why is it called a "Vampire Lift"?

The nickname comes from the fact that the treatment uses your own blood. Despite the name, it's a gentle, natural treatment, and the blood is processed in a centrifuge before it's ever used.

Is PRP safe?

Because PRP comes from your own blood, the risk of an allergic reaction is very low. Temporary redness, swelling and bruising are the most common side effects. We'll review your health history to make sure it's right for you.

Does it hurt?

Numbing cream keeps the treatment comfortable. Most patients feel only mild pressure or a slight sting during injections, and the blood draw feels like a routine blood test.

When will I see results?

Some patients notice a healthy glow within a week or two. Collagen builds gradually, so the best results usually appear about 2–3 months after a series of treatments and can last a year or more.

Who shouldn't have PRP?

PRP may not be suitable if you have a blood or platelet disorder, an active skin infection, certain cancers, or are taking blood thinners, or during pregnancy. We'll discuss this at your consultation.

Can PRP be combined with other treatments?

Yes. PRP is often paired with microneedling or Fractora to boost results, and works well alongside Botox and fillers.
