How it works
Laser or pulsed light is selectively absorbed by the pigment in your hair. The hair carries that energy down into the follicle, the root that produces the hair, and disables it so it can no longer grow new hair.
Hair grows in cycles, and only follicles in the active growth phase respond to treatment at any one time. That's why a series of sessions is needed: each visit treats a new group of follicles as they enter the growth phase.
After each treatment, hair typically doesn't grow back for several months, and whatever does return comes back thinner, lighter and sparser.

What to expect
- Free consultation & test patchWe look at your hair and skin type, discuss the areas you'd like treated, and do a small test patch to confirm your skin responds well.
- TreatmentYou'll wear protective eyewear while the handpiece is passed over the area. Treatment is quick and comfortable, takes only a few minutes for most areas, and causes no visible skin changes.
- Right afterThe area may be slightly pink for a short time. You can go right back to your day.
- The following weeksTreated hairs gradually shed over about 1–3 weeks, and then the area stays smooth for months.
- Your series and maintenance3 to 7 sessions are usually needed for good results. After that, occasional maintenance sessions keep any remaining growth under control.
Before your treatment
- Shave the area a day before your appointment
- Don't wax, pluck, thread or use epilators for about 4 weeks beforehand; the root needs to be in place
- Avoid tanning, tanning beds and self-tanner for 2–4 weeks
- Let us know about any medications, especially ones that increase light sensitivity
Aftercare
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) on treated areas
- Avoid hot tubs, saunas and intense workouts for 24–48 hours
- Shaving between sessions is fine, but don't wax or pluck
- Let shedding hairs fall out on their own
Frequently asked questions
Is it really permanent?
Treated follicles are disabled and stop producing hair, so most patients enjoy a dramatic, long-lasting reduction. Hormones and time can activate new follicles, which is why occasional maintenance sessions are recommended to keep your results.
Does it hurt?
Most patients find it very comfortable. You may feel a quick warm snap with each pulse. Sessions take only a few minutes for most areas.
